The Griffin is a half Eagle, half Lion, creature arising from Greek Mythology and Etruscan Art

Griffins were associated with sun worship. Throughout Asia, particularly in Scythia, they protected precious gems and gold. By tearing apart anyone who tried to steal their treasure.

Statues of Griffins acted as Guardians of valuables, similar to Chinese Dragons

The Minotaur was part human, and part a Bull sent by the Gods. The mother’s husband, King Minos, created a labyrinth to trap the Minotaur.

They sacrificed maidens to appease the Minotaur, until Theseus slaughtered the beast using a magic sword.

This myth leads to another well known legend. The King imprisoned the Architect Daedallis and his son, Icarus. Who escaped by creating wings. However, Icarus did not heed his fathers advise, and flew too close to the sun… Melting the glue holding the wings together, and he plummeted to his death

Heart Notice Board

At a carboot sale I saw these old rusty wire frames for flower arranging for 20p. I decided to make it into a notice board.

I love how sometimes when you see just one random object you can imagine what it could be.

How to guide:

  1. I cut a piece of foam into the same shape as the metal wire heart and rounded off the edges.
  2. To create the cover I cut two hearts from material slightly larger than the heart.
  3. I sewed them together inside out, leaving a gap. I turned it inside out, inserted the foam and hand sewed the gap shut.
  4. I then attached the metal heart using a thick thread and attached a ribbon to hand it by.
  5. I used pins and small pegs to attach momentous
Cosplay and Costumes, Cosplays

Erza Scarlet

This was my first cosplay, at Hyper Japan, in 2015. And I have been hooked ever since!

My friend recommended me to do Erza, as she’s a total badass

I made the katanas from strips of hard plastic. I used cardboard, papermache and cotton bandages to construct the handles.

Miscellaneous Costumes

I wore this kimono to my first Hyper Japan, in 2015

Source: I bought the kimono in a charity shop in Oxford and the fan was a present. My friend Maria kindly braided my hair for me!
